Verstappen wins 70th anniversary GP ahead of Hamilton and Bottas | Sports | America Edition

Dutchman Max Verstappen (Red Bull) won the Grand Prix of the 70th anniversary of Formula 1 at Silverstone (United Kingdom) with a great tire strategy that gave him his first victory of the year ahead of Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes from the United Kingdom and Finnish Valtteri Bottas.

Verstappen broke Mercedes’ hegemony and added the ninth victory of his career thanks to his wise decision to finish yesterday’s qualification with a hard tire, which allowed him to have greater resistance of his wheels during this Sunday’s race compared to both Mercedes, which used medium compound tires.
