Unemployment in Brazil reaches 13.3% affected by COVID-19 | Economy America Edition

Unemployment in Brazil reached 13.3% between April and June last year, which means an increase of 1.1% over the previous quarter and that 12.8 million people are unemployed, official sources said on Thursday.

According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the increase in the unemployment rate is directly related to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has led tens of thousands of companies to reduce their payrolls or simply close their doors.
