The Government sends its condolences on the death of Bishop Pere Casaldáliga | Society | America Edition

The Government of Spain expressed its condolences for the death, at the age of 92, of Bishop Pere Casaldáliga, this Saturday in Brazil, and of which he stands out, “his enormous religious, humanitarian and social work whose tangible legacy translates, among others, in creation of schools and medical centers ”.

“Activist in favor of the indigenous people and a staunch defender of liberation theology, Dom Casaldáliga believed in justice and hope, in the option for the poor, in access to land, in the defense of the weakest and of indigenous communities, as well as in the protection of the Amazon and of the environment ”, says the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a note.
