Swedish international – Forsberg wants to stay in Leipzig: “I didn’t end up here”

Leipzig (dpa) – Emil Forsberg wants to fulfill his contract with RB Leipzig and also play football for the Saxons in the coming season.

“I haven’t finished here yet and I still have a two-year contract. I feel very comfortable, so do my family, my daughter is now in daycare, and my wife is happy too,” said said the Swedish international to the “kicker”. When asked if he would stay, the 28-year-old replied: “Yes, I guess.”

There were good discussions with sporting director Markus Krösche. “We walk together and want the best for Leipzig. I’m in a good mood and know I can help the team when I’m in good shape,” said Forsberg.

For the Champions League finals, Forsberg expects better performances than RB were able to show in the Bundesliga after the Corona break. “We were in good spirits physically, but we made a lot of mistakes with and without the ball,” he said. Perhaps the missing viewers were a factor. “We couldn’t cope with the situation and generally weren’t relaxed in our heads. We have to change that. It is only if we are relaxed in our head that we can play the football that sets us apart.”
