CORONAVIRUS – The health authorities warned this Sunday, August 9, in the afternoon, the participants in a festive evening that gathered several hundred people in the Marne during the night from Saturday to Sunday after verifying the breach of the barrier gestures despite the circulation of covid-19 in the country.
“Several hundred people gathered on the night of August 8 to 9 in the town of Matougues (Marne), as part of a festive evening. During the event, the gendarmerie noticed that the barrier measures were not respected by the participants ”, coming from several cities in France but also from Belgium or the Netherlands, indicated the ARS Grand-Est in a joint statement with the Prefecture of marne.
“According to the organizers, this festive gathering” organized by the Guyanese community “was initially supposed to bring together about 100 people. But the actual number of participants is estimated at several hundred, since the information has been actively transmitted through social networks, ”explains the ARS, citing a“ high risk to health ”.
A population particularly at risk
The gendarmes pointed out “the lack of respect for barrier gestures and, in particular, the use of a mask when physical distance (1 meter) could not be respected”. “The people who have probably been in contact with the virus are the participants, the musicians, the requested taxi drivers,” he adds.
The ARS estimates that the risk is even higher due to the age of the participants, mostly between 20 and 40 years old, while the last epidemiological point published by Public health France shows an increase of + 45% of positive cases during the last week of July between 15 and 44 years.
“However, most people in their 20s and 40s who are infected have no or mild symptoms. Therefore, the health risk is particularly high, “says the health authority, which in particular urged participants to be examined and wear a mask” systematically “for 14 days” in the presence of a person. “
A message was also sent “to each participant about the risks incurred and the actions to be taken.”
