Man dies in car crash in Erzgebirge district

A motorist died in a traffic accident near Lößnitz (Erzgebirgskreis). A spokesperson for Chemnitz police said the man collided with a tree in his vehicle early Monday morning and died at the scene of the crash. According to reports, the 38-year-old was traveling in a small van from Zwönitz. For reasons that are not yet clear, the vehicle had left the road on a downhill section and crashed head-on into the tree. The material damage was estimated at around 20,000 euros. The road was closed for rescue and accident recording for about two and a half hours.
