Formula One World Championship leader Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) won the fastest time in the third and final free practice session before qualifying for the 70 year old Grand Prix, ahead of his Finnish teammate Valtteri Bottas.
Hamilton, with a best time of 1: 26.621, improved his teammate’s record by 163 milliseconds, and both beat a surprising McLaren from the British Lando Norris, than with medium tires – theoretically a less fast rubber, but more resistant to heat outside the Silverstone asphalt – set a record just 5.8 tenths slower than the Mercedes.
