Gloria Estefan did not plan to let 7 years pass for her next album, “Brasil 305”, but her mother’s death closed her throat for a long time. Recovered, the artist returns with an album in which she is encouraged by her spirit and that of all Brazilians who contributed to illuminate her music.
“Samba is more than half-naked and feathered women at a carnival. It has socio-cultural and political repercussions”, says the artist in a conversation with Efe, in which she recalls that, although women were gradually removed from the party, Os precursores do style were the “baianas” (or bahianas) who improvised songs while washing clothes.
