Coronavirus: Bavaria introduces compulsory masking in schools – Bavaria

The mask requirement is part of a four-step system that the Free State will introduce when school begins in September. It depends on the infection rate in the respective regions. The goal after the summer vacation is regular operation under special hygienic conditions, Piazolo said. Schools start on September 8th.

If the number of infections in an area is high, it may also be necessary to revert to distance education at home in schools – step four. At levels two and three of the system, a mask requirement will gradually apply in class, and then tightened minimum distances will apply again.

School trips of several days are prohibited until at least the end of January 2021. All teachers will also be offered a voluntary serial test. According to Piazolo, there is no obligation to do so.
