PARIS (dpa-AFX) – The French energy company Engie is separating from its boss Isabelle Kocher. “After a decision-making process based on a detailed assessment of their tenure, the board concluded that shaping the Group’s strategy requires new leadership,” the company said on Thursday evening. This means the end of Kocher’s time as boss at Engie. The 53-year-old manager is currently the only female boss of a group in the Parisian Cac 40 stock market index .
Kocher took over the post of chef in 2016. Your contract expires in May, then a new boss is elected. By then, an interim management should resume their tasks. It was decided that the group needs to take another step in their transformation in order to make Engie a leading force in energy and climate change, he said. The Engie group is one of the largest energy groups in Europe. The State is the main shareholder of Engie with 24% of the shares.
The French media have long speculated that Kocher should go. Just a few days ago, major entrepreneurs, politicians and scientists spoke out in favor of extending Kocher’s contract. “With Isabelle Kocher, Engie has become a leading player in the field of green growth at the international level”, they wrote in an open letter to the economic newspaper “Les Echos”. The signatories denounced a business world dominated by men and stressed that Kocher was a pioneer of ecological transition in France.
