UNUSUAL – “If I’m fine at 95, I absolutely want to.” And he did. Maurice Ferrier wanted to celebrate his birthday in an unusual way for his age: take his first flight and calmly parachute. Followed by France 3, the nonagenarian jumped to an altitude of 4,000 meters under the gaze of his family on Friday, August 7, at the Chalon-Champforgeuil airport in Saône-et-Loire.
“I’m going crazy”, his granddaughter confesses to the media on the floor of the cow, while his other grandson is enthusiastic: “He has been talking about it almost daily for almost a year (…) C ‘por that is why I made the decision to register it ”.
Once at an altitude of 4000 meters, the nonagenarian throws himself into the water: 50 seconds of free fall and five minutes in parachute before landing. “It goes fast,” he says, still a bit impressed by his experience.
This journey in the air seems to have pleased him, as he is planning his first hang gliding flight next year to turn 96.
