Leipzig (dpa) – New German 100-meter champion Deniz Almas can hardly save himself from invitations and congratulations after his title.
“The Wolfsburg footballers invited me to train – I thought it was nice. Even my Dönermann in the Jahnallee (Leipzig street, d. Red) congratulated me on Sunday. He has known me for a long time. it for me? ” said the 23-year-old from the “Leipziger Volkszeitung”. Almas, who trains in Leipzig and leaves for VfL Wolfsburg, won the 100 meters in 10.09 seconds at the German Championships, making him the fastest of the year in Europe.
Despite his impressive performance, Almas is not seen at the end of his development. “In the Braunschweig video I saw a lot of reservations. It is pure motivation for me,” said the sprinter. Almas plans to start with meetings in Leverkusen, Dessau and at Istaf in Berlin. “In the international arena it’s a new challenge for me not to want to run faster, but to run well and not to cramp,” said Almas.
