240 new corona infections: another epidemic in operation in Bavaria – Bavaria

Berlin / Mamming – According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), German health authorities reported 240 new corona infections in one day.

This low number, less than a third of the values for the previous days, is at least partly explained by the fact that not all health authorities transmit their data on weekends. On Saturday the number of new infections within 24 hours was 955. This is the highest daily number of cases reported since the beginning of May – except for the local outbreak of Corona at the manufacturer of Tönnies meat in mid-June.

Since the start of the pandemic, at least 209,893 people in Germany have been shown to have been infected with the Sars-CoV-2 virus, as reported by the RKI on Sunday morning (data status 2.8., 12 a.m.). According to the RKI, the number of deaths linked to a corona infection is 9,141. As of Sunday morning, 192,900 people had survived the infection according to the RKI estimates. This means that around 7,850 people in Germany are severely infected with the pathogen.

After the massive corona outbreak at a vegetable farm in Mamming, Lower Bavaria, 43 people infected with the corona were identified at another business in the community. As the Dingolfing-Landau district office announced on Saturday evening, those infected and their contact persons were immediately isolated.

“Due to the close proximity of the two Mamming companies, there was apparently contact between seasonal workers, which led to the transmission of the virus,” district administrator Werner Bumeder said, according to the announcement. . About 600 people work in the newly affected company. During the previous epidemic on a market garden in Mamming, 232 farm workers were infected with the corona virus on Friday evening.

In Nuremberg, 135 residents of shared accommodation have been quarantined because one resident tested positive for the corona virus. As the city announced on Saturday, the infected person is an employee of a nursing home. “The residents of the shared apartment and those at the retirement home are currently being tested. Results are not yet available,” the city wrote on Twitter.

The national number of reproductions, or R-value for short, was, according to RKI estimates, on August 1 at midnight in Germany at 1.13 (previous day: 1.06). This means that an infected person infects slightly more than one other person on average. The R-value shows the infection process about a week and a half in advance.

In addition, the RKI gives a so-called R. of seven days. It refers to a longer period and is therefore less subject to daily fluctuations. According to RKI estimates, this value was 1.20 (previous day: 1.19) with data as of August 1 at midnight. It shows the infection from 8 to 16 days ago.
